Persian Rugs – Unique Pieces of Art and Culture

The Persian rugs are in vogue again. There are mainly two types of traditional Persian rugs which include the city rugs and the tribal rugs. The Persian rugs belonging to city can be associated to the relatively advanced cultures that prevailed in the medieval cities of Persian while the tribal rugs exhibit great diversity and are linked to the tribes that produced them.

Persian City Rugs

Mainly four different varieties of Persian City Rugs are known:

3.    Kashan Rugs: They usually have curvilinear patterns. The lobed medallions and diamonds along with floral patterns is a popular traditional design. Pictorials of hunting, vases etc. are also popular. The color of these rugs is usually red, beige, ivory, blue or ocher. They are mostly found in rich and bright colors.
